Alert #421612 - Hurricane Idalia

Last published update: August 29, 2023 11:00PM EST

In light of the imminent arrival of Hurricane Idalia, we wanted to take a moment to update you on the preparations and measures we have in place to ensure your safety and address any technical needs that may arise. Your well-being is at the heart of everything we do, and we are here to stand with you through this challenging time.

As we vigilantly track the progress of Hurricane Idalia towards our North Central and South Central Florida service areas, and now, following the 8.28.23 5pm update, including our East Central Florida region, we urge you to prioritize the safety of your operations and personnel.

Please consider taking the following precautions:

  • Data Security:
We strongly recommend validating the recent backups of your critical data. Safeguarding your data is paramount. Before the storm hits, we are here to assist you in validating your recent data backups. Our skilled team can ensure the integrity and readiness of your backups, providing an extra layer of protection.

  • Contact Information:
Kindly review and update your emergency contact information within your MAJicData Client Zone. Accurate and current contact details will facilitate seamless communication should the need arise.

Our dedicated team will be working around the clock to monitor the storm's trajectory and any potential impact on our operations. We are committed to keeping you informed with timely updates as the situation unfolds.

In the context of hurricane season, we wish to underscore the importance of a people-centric approach to disaster planning. While safeguarding data is vital, it pales in comparison to ensuring the safety and well-being of your personnel. We encourage you to make every effort to ensure your team members are out of harm's way before focusing on other considerations.

Moreover, it's worth noting that the repercussions of a hurricane extend beyond flooding. Electrical issues, such as damaged wiring and intermittent power surges, can lead to fires and further complications. We emphasize the need to protect people and data, followed by strategic planning to sustain the continuity of operations.

At MAJicData, we are fully equipped to assist you in securing your critical data through our routine system backup protocols. Our disaster recovery and backup service stores these backups off-site, ensuring their accessibility and integrity even in the face of adverse conditions.

In our commitment to transparency, we want to outline the comprehensive steps we've taken to prepare for the approaching storm:

  • Facility Preparedness:
Our facilities have undergone meticulous reviews and enhancements to bolster security. We've undertaken measures such as debris clearance, reinforcement of windows and doors, and ensuring an adequate supply of essentials.

  • Data Center Access:
As of August 29th, 2023, at 11:00 PM EST, there are no access restrictions in place. Our Data Centers are open to our customers, and our proficient MAJicData engineers are on-site to provide remote hands and remote assistance as needed.

  • Emergency Power:
Our emergency power systems have been rigorously tested to ensure they are fully operational in the event of utility power loss. We have also made provisions for emergency refueling in case of extended outages. This backup power will enable us to maintain operations at our Fort Pierce Data Center.

  • Technical Assistance:
Our skilled team of engineers and support personnel is available around the clock to ensure the security, integrity, and availability of your technology infrastructure. To augment our support capabilities, we have mobilized additional personnel from areas beyond the anticipated impact zone, further ensuring that assistance is readily available to you.

Protect people, then your data.
- CEO, Matthew A. Johnson
